“We will not judge the man of God” , “And touch not thy anointed.” Even if they are molesting our children!

Recently in Atlanta, Pastor Shaun King issued a series of statements making allegations that Bishop Johnathan Alvarado has molested children within his congregation. Shaun King has been contacted by several news sources in regards to stories concerning whether or not Bishop Alvarado has settled cases involving child molestation charges.
Pastor Shaun King who served as an assistant to Bishop Alvarado has asked that the local media contact Alvarado’s attorney to confirm if there has been in fact settlement in the cases. What I have found to be very strange is the fact that unlike the Bishop Eddie Long scandal, that went World-Wide, this story seemed to just go away. While I am not suppose to put my personal opinion in this section of the blog, I felt it necessary to state that just in case you don’t get a chance to read my take on it in churchlady chronicles soon! Now back to to the news story:

In statement obtained by Preachersbureauofinvestigation.com Shaun King says “I have heard the worst, learned of his admission of guilt, yet he continues to serve and preach. Kids get the raw end of this deal. No more.”

In a series of tweets posted on Twitter and CNN, Pastor Shaun King made the following remarks in reference to Bishop Johnathan Alvardo:

Pastor Shaun King Exposes Bishop Johnathon Alvarado as a Rapist and Abuser of Boys on Twitter

Bishop Johnathan Alvarado of Total Grace Christian Center is a child molester!!!! In the name of Jesus I declare this must end RIGHT NOW. On Friday I was contacted by WSB TV about horrendous charges of child molestation of many boys by Bishop Alvarado. For the past 48 hours…

I have heard the worst, learned of his admission of guilt, yet he continues to serve and preach. Kids get the raw end of this deal. No more.

5 Reasons I Chose to Expose Bishop Johnathan Alvarado as a Rapist and Abuser of Boys on Twitter and am Willing to Pay Whatever Cost for It

#5 Ask Bishop Alvarado’s attorneys if he molested boys. Ask them if he has settled cases with them admitting guilt for their silence.

#4 I dare you to you to FIND ONE staff member of Bishop Alvarado’s church that believes he has not molested boys. Find ONE. Don’t exist.

#3 In the name of grace, mercy, and Bishop Alvarado’s deliverance people have protected him and left wounded young men hanging high and dry.

#2 James 1:27 states “True faith in the eyes of God is caring for widows and orphans.” This case involveds widow and an orphan.

#1 Jesus called religious scoundrels that grossly abused their power out by name and even called them vipers from Hell. We must take a stand I am about to get real deep and real ugly. Brace yourself.

Question: How could it be that Atlanta simultaneously leads the nation in child sex trafficking AND in mega churches?

I now have an answer. It’s going to hurt. You need to hear it and then we need to do something about it. I’m in tears as I type this…

When some of Atlanta’s most prominent pastors are molesting and throwing away boys like garbage, 2 things happen….

#1. A pastor that molests children directly and indirectly creates the culture of Atlanta where the mistreatment of children is so easy.

#2. A pastor that rapes boys WILL never take a stand against the trafficking of children. Trafficking exists when strong voices are silent.

I pastor a church in Midtown. I pastor openly gay men. Let me clarify this. Being gay is 1 thing. Molesting boys another. Apples & oranges.

If you have been abused or molested by Bishop Alvarado or any pastor I will stand with you. Thousands of my friends on Twitter will too…

1. Social Media is changing the world and is making it harder and harder for evil & wrong to stay in power without opposition. Feel me?

2. Silence is the friend of evil. It grows and grows when good people see it and say or do nothing. Holocaust, Rwanda. We must STAND UP!
Shaun King

Goodnight.”

Pastor Shuan’s wife has release her own statement on her blog addressing the same issue of a cover up and payoff victems of Bishop Alvarado.

“My husband received a call 2 days ago from a local reporter trying to gather information about our former pastor, Bishop Johnathan Alvarado of Total Grace Christian Center. He said that there had been a lawsuit filed and settled out of court on behalf of three young men alleging that Alvarado molested them as children.

As soon as Shaun told me, my heart skipped a beat. I was so shocked, I immediately felt the allegations couldn’t be true. Shaun and I attended this church for over 6 years. Shaun served as a staff pastor for 4 of those years and even planted their last satellite location in Gwinnett County. Shaun served him intimately (well not THAT intimately), but he knew him very well. He checked his email accounts for him, and had access to his voicemail passwords. Shaun managed his office, opened and organized his mail, etc. We felt that if anything “fishy” was going on, we DEFINITELY would have known it.

So when contacted by the reporter we initially couldn’t fathom that the man we knew so well for so many years could be a molester of boys. We spent holidays in this man’s home with his wife and children (and MY children I might add). We took family vacations with them, out of town ministry engagements with them- I even taught 2 of their children in elementary school and privately tutored another. Their kids spent the night at my house, and mine at theirs. I KNEW this family…or so I thought.

After posting something vague about the allegations on twitter, Shaun immediately began receiving phone calls from former and current staff members about the situation. Apparently this is news to us, but not everyone else. Since resigning from Total Grace and being ostracized from everyone we knew there, Shaun and I have completely moved on and live our lives pretty much in a bubble-shielded from the ugliness of church rumor and gossip. So of course we were the last to hear of this when it appears that everyone else has been whispering about it for months!

Shaun was itching to speak out about it, but felt he needed more concrete evidence before opening himself up to the ridicule and criticism speaking out was sure to bring because people in high places have friends, lawyers, and devotees that will defend them at all costs. Exposing a man with such friends could really smear Shaun’s name and reputation (not that we care a whole lot about that). But he wanted to be sure what the reporter and staff members told him was true first.

Then tonight, he had a very difficult conversation with someone intimately involved with the lawsuit that confirmed the worst of all we’d been told and then some! This was all the proof we needed to be sure our accusations were correct. I say this to say that my husband does not accuse someone of such a horrible thing lightly. There was a time not too long ago when we LOVED this man (Johnathan Alvarado) and defended him against accusations of being gay, arrogant, etc. But that was then, and this is now. We had no idea such things as molestation were going on. They weren’t even rumored during our time there.

Today I am angry! I am angry and I’m hurt for the years I spent there under Johnathan Alvarado’s leadership. I’m angry for the way in which my children were exposed to him. I’m angry that people KNEW and have known for years that this was a part of his character and chose to cover it up in the name of “grace” and “redemption.” Because this was not dealt with 20 years ago the first time he exhibited such behavior, other boys had to suffer under his evil and thousands have been lead astray by his ministry.

I’m praying that the reporter gathers all of the information he needs to take this public. He told Shaun that he has to sit on stories like this all the time because people with first hand knowledge refuse to come forward. Some refuse because they want to protect the innocent children involved-that I understand. I wouldn’t want my son to have to live through the media scrutiny either. But some are keeping silent, because they have jobs to keep, and he is their employer. To you I say, the paycheck you draw is blood money. And every child from here on out that is hurt by him will be done so with your aid and assistance. I’d rather clean shit for a living than be a silent corroborator in the molesting of children!

We all have a responsibility to seek justice, and defend the weak and hurting. WE are the hands and feet of God on the earth. We have to call evil out by name and force it to come out of the shadows where it thrives and will continue to thrive if WE don’t do something about it.

Johnathan Alvarado may escape full-blown public humiliation and trial, but like us all, he will one day stand in judgment before God. And God has a scroll with his name on it, listing every evil deed he has done. There is no escaping that!”
