Tyler Perry's: "House of Payne" cancelledTyler Perry’s hit TBS sitcom “House Of Payne” will not return for an9th season. The Christian based TV series made house hold names out of its stars Lance Gross, LaVan Davis, and Cassi Davis while finding a soft place in the heart of viewers for 7 seasons. The news of the cancellation came first on the heels of the announcement of Tyler’s new show “For Better Or Worse.”

An air date for the final episode of House of Payne has not been announced.

“Even though it will be sad to say goodbye to House of Payne, I’m really looking forward to exploring new territory with For Better or Worse,” Tyler Perry said in a statement. “Working on House of Payne taught me a lot about what it takes to make a successful television series and I’m looking forward to applying that experience to For Better or Worse.”

TBS has ordered 10 episodes of the new series Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse is a dramedy, based on Tyler’s hit Why Did I Get Married? films. It follows the ups-and-downs of married life for Marcus and Angela, two characters who originated in the feature films. Michael Jai White and Tasha Smith are set to reprise the roles of television anchor Marcus and salon owner Angela. No word yet on who will round out the cast.

House of Payne aired its 254th and final episode on August 10, 2012 allowing the top tv sitcom to surpass the Jeffersons as the longest running TV sitcom surrounding African Americans.
