I had a chance to watch the Rickey Smiley show on TV One last week and I must say it is quite funny.  I thoroughly enjoyed watching Ricely Smiley and J. Anthony Brown interact.

The Show is centers around Rickey Smiley who plays himself who is trying to struggle having a personal life in between work and family.  The show definitely keeps you laughing and your attention.

Rickey Smiley (Himself)
Rickey Smiley plays Rickey Smiley, a single father and a radio personality, not unlike his real life. Funnyman Rickey Smiley is known for making millions laugh. As a much loved comedian, television host and top rated nationally syndicated radio personality, Smiley has taken the world by storm with his unique blend of “clean” comedy. The multi-talented performer is a standout in the entertainment world with his larger-than-life characters “Bernice Jenkins” (AKA Granny Swims, Ms. Johnson or Mrs. Francis), “Lil’ Daryl,” “Rusty Dale,” and “Beauford.”

His RadioOne nationally syndicated radio show, The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, one of the nation’s fastest growing morning radio shows, is heard in over 55 markets. “Paternity Test Tuesdays,” “Wake Up Wednesdays and “News You Can’t Use, are among his audiences favorites.

Smiley is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated and enjoys spending most of his free time in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama with his children.

J. Anthony Brown (Maurice)
J. Anthony Brown plays Maurice, the general manager at the radio station where Rickey Smiley works. Brown has been a staple on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show for over nine years, where his comedic antics and voice are heard by radio listeners in nearly 200 markets. After building a successful comedy career in Atlanta, Brown moved to Hollywood in 1989 where he was the lead writer for The Arsenio Hall Show. An industry staple ever since, his impressive list of credits include; hosting two consecutive season of ComicView, performances on Def Jam, It’s Showtime at the Apollo and Evening at the Improv.

Ray J (Kenny)

Ray J plays Kenny, the show’s producer and Rickey Smiley’s protégé. It’s been an 18-year rise to the top for this singer, actor, TV presenter, entrepreneur, reality TV star and now author. With four top selling albums under his belt with R&B songs like “Wait a Minute,” “One Wish,” “Sexy Can I, “ and “Tie Me Down,” on his hit list, Ray J has established himself as one of the top selling independent music artists of all times. Ray J created and starred in two of the most successful and talked about reality shows of the decade–VH-I’s For The Love of Ray J and Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business. His first book, “Death of a Cheating Man,” debuted in February 2012.

Roz Ryan (Aunt Sylvia)
Roz Ryan plays Rickey Smiley’s Aunt Sylvia who helps raise his three kids. Ryan has a 30-year career as a singer and television and broadway actress. She is most known for her role as the cantankerous Amelia Heterbrink on Amen. Her other television credits include roles on All About the Andersons, Half and Half and the Showtime series Barbershop. Ryan has starred in numerous musicals including Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Dreamgirls. She also been the voice of several animated characters including Mrs. Fitzpatrick on Disney’s Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil.

Noree Victoria (Simone)

Noree Victoria plays Simone, Rickey Smiley’s manager. Victoria was lured into acting by her family’s entertainment roots. She’s related to the great jazz musician Eubie Blake and Emmy-nominated actress Penny Jerald. She has since appeared in several television productions, including Necessary Roughness, Army Wives and The Game.

Jay Lewis (Brandon)

Jay Lewis plays Brandon, the eldest of Rickey Smiley’s three children. After winning BET’s comedy talent search show, Coming to the Stage in 2003 at the age of 13, Lewis was dubbed the “Prince of Comedy” and has since landed acting gigs in television and film on movies like Beauty Shop and a starring role on Nicelodeon’s Just Jordan. Lewis is adding rapper to his list of titles, working on an debut album titled “Party Boi.”

Ajiona Alexus (De’Anna)

Aijona Alexus plays De’anna, Rickey Smiley’s only daughter and the middle child of his three children. Alexus is a multitalented young artist and student at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. Along with acting, she counts singing, rapping, dancing and performing spoken word among her many talents. When she’s not on stage she’s an accomplished athlete, playing basketball, soccer, tennis and running track.

Gabriel Burgess (Aaron)

Gabriel Burgess plays Aaron, the youngest of Rickey Smiley’s children. Burgess has been performing since the age of 2 and already had independent film credits under his belt. He’s also appeared in commercials and print ads in the Atlanta area. When he isn’t performing he enjoys soccer, skateboarding and singing in his school choir.

The Rickey Smiley Show airs on Tuesdays @ 8 p.m. on TV One Network.
