Congratulations Tasha Cobbs on winning your first Grammy, Your Dad is smiling down upon you right now Chile!

Just two days after laying her father Bishop Fritz Cobbs to rest, Tasha Cobbs, a native of Jesup and a pastor of worship at the Dream Center Church in Atlanta, won her first-ever Grammy for Best Gospel/Contemporary Music Performance for “Break Every Chain.” Along with her wins at the Stellar Awards she also won big at the Dove Awards and her single charted at the top of the Gospel charts all year long.

Clad in a midnight blue gown, Cobbs accepted her award during the pre-telecast and dedicated it to her father.

Funeral services were held for Bishop Fritz Cobbs on Friday January 24th, 2014 at Unity Church of God in Christ in the Cobbs hometown of Jesup, GA. Bishop Cobbs is the pastor of Jesup New Life Ministries Inc., in Jesup GA.

Bishop Cobbs was in attendance at the event and witnessed his daughter’s shining moment and passed away the next day on the 19th. The cause of his death has not been released to the public.

Cobbs thanked “all of the voters who took a chance on a country girl from Jesup, Georgia.”
