Steel Magnolias: Sets record on Lifetime 6.5 million viewers

"Steel Magnolias Remake"

Steel Magnolias Remake set a record for Lifetime movie network with 6.5 million viewers tuning in,  making it the 3rd most watched television program Ever on the network. While, the much publicized and anticipated movie received mixed reviews from viewers on the social networks,  it was surely a hit with network and advertisers.

I personally did not think that the remake would be able to compare to the original because very few ever compare to the origianl, but I thought that it was extremly entertaining and enjoyed watching every minute of it.

I thought it was cute how they added urban flavor to the movie while still trying to maintain the original content. For instance the wobble scene at  Shelby’s reception,  cute!!!

By the way, Abducted: The Carlina White Story, starring  Aunjanue Ellis, Keke Palmer and Sherri Shepherd,  also aired on Lifetime just before Steel Magnolias and did not do bad either drawing over 4 millinon viewers.

Congratulations sisters you Rock!!!  Now maybe these networks will start to invest more in African American film makers.
