I had the opportunity to view the first couple of episodes of Amazon’s The Lord of Rings-Rings of Power and Chile; I have to admit, I was in awe of how Amazon risked almost 1 billion dollars to create and bring this masterpiece to its streaming audience.
The show’s premise is set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings; the series is based on author J. R. R. Tolkien‘s history of Middle-earth. It begins during a time of relative peace and covers all the major events of Middle-earth’s Second Age: the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the fall of the island kingdom of Númenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men.
For a television series, the production is mind-boggling. The sets resemble those created for the big screen, the costumes are beautiful digital effects are fantastic. The story started off extremely slow for my taste, but by the second episode, you kind of got to meet all the characters and saw how the plot was building. I loved how Amazon took the leap and included a diverse set of characters; black people can be Hobbits and Elves to yall, Kudos to Amazon for stepping up!
Out of 10, I rate this TV series an 8 so far. Hopefully, it will keep my attention to watching the entire series.
