Megafest 2013: Oprah Winfrey Life Class to kick off  Christian Festival!

ON August 29,2013 Oprah Winfrey will kick off the hugely popular “Megafest” by recording an episode of OWN’s “Lifeclass” series before a live Megafest  audience at the American Airlines Center with  the Potter’s House pastor  and Megafest Organizer/Host- Bishop T. D. Jakes joining her  during the taping.

The couple plan to continue a two-hour speacial that was first aired back in May regarding fatherless families.

Making its debut in Dallas, TX, organizers are estimating that more than 50,000 will attend the three day Christian Festival.  Many mega church pastors and preachers are placed on the shedule including The Osteens who are headlining the Event.  celebrities scheduled to attend include Mary Mary and Cedric the Entertainer who will host  a “Just Churchin”Comedy Show.

“MegaFest is about coming together to strengthen each other and our families, and leaving refreshed and ready to help our communities,” said Jakes. “There’s no better way to get inspired than by having fun, creating memories and laughing together.”

Making its triumphant return to the United States for the first time since 2006, MegaFest will be held at the Dallas Convention Center, American Airlines Center and other venues throughout the city. This supersized event marries four of Jakes’ most popular conferences: ManPower, Woman Thou Art Loosed, MegaYouth and MegaKidz with a plethora of entertainment, business and other empowering features for the entire family.

Hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and Niecy Nash, stars of the TV Land hit sitcom “The Soul Man,” the “Just Churchin'” comedy show is a MegaFest favorite. Slated for Friday, August 30 at 8 p.m. at the Dallas Convention Center Arena, “Just Churchin'” guarantees a flavorful mix of comedic talent, with hilarious, family-friendly stand up routines from seasoned veteran comedians to the hottest up and coming talent. Tickets go on sale June 28.

The MegaFest Woman of Purpose Concert, in conjunction with Autism Speaks, will highlight women who are making a difference in their communities by advocating for awareness and resources to assist children and families affected by this developmental disorder. Featuring Holly Robinson Peete, Tisha Campbell Martin, Mary Mary, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Kim Burrell andAmerican Idol music director Ray Chew among others, this evening of elegance will bring together the best elements of fun, faith and philanthropy. Hosted on Saturday, August 31 at 8 p.m. fromAmerican Airlines Center, tickets go on sale June 28.

Offering something for sports fans, MegaFest brings streetball from the neighborhood playground to the bright lights of the Dallas Convention Center Arena when Ball Up, the nation’s premiere streetball organization, concludes its 2013 nationwide tour with a championship game on August 31. Ball Up’s innovative spin on the game of streetball has redefined the sport by bringing some of the top, untapped talent to basketball courts across the world along with big name stars that have graced the NBA hardwood. This year’s impressive roster includes The Professor, AO, Baby Shaq, Air Up There, Bone Collector, Pat the Roc, Special FX, Springs, Sik Wit It, Violator and G. Smith. Tickets go on sale June 28.

Other MegaFest featured speakers and guests include Pastors Joel and Victoria Osteen, who will headline the event along with Jakes, Bishop I. V. Hilliard, Dr. Jasmin Sculark, Dr. Marvin Sapp,Pastor Sheryl Brady, Dr. E. Dewey Smith and Pastor Chris Durso, among others. Dubbed ‘America’s largest inspirational festival,’ leading voices of faith, commerce and entertainment will participate at MegaFest. The event will draw men, women and youth with real-world messages of hope and purpose.
