Jada Pinkett Smith Call to Action

Jada Pinkett Smith speaks up about Oscar nominations and the Academy’s audacity to once again ingnore the roles people of color contribute to the Academy and challenges a call to action to People of Color working in Hollywood.

For the second consecutive year, no black actors were nominated in any of the four acting categories — including Will Smith, Michael Jordan, and Idris Elba.

Jada presented her view in a video she posted on Facebook and so eloquently stated:

“The Academy has the right to acknowledge whomever they choose, to invite whomever they choose and now I think that it’s our responsibility, now, to make the change… “Maybe it is time that we pull back our resources and we put them back into our communities and our programs and we make programs for ourselves that acknowledge us in ways that we see fit, that are just as good as the so-called ‘mainstream’ ones.”

I agree 100% with Jada Pinkett Smith and expect that she will receive a lot of backlash (just like Monique) for speaking out. In fact it has already started with Janet Hubert who played “Aunt Viv” on Fresh Prince of Belair, check her out:

Most of y’all already know my response to “Aunt Viv” Chile Pleeze! Get somewhere and sit down. This has nothing to do with Will Smith not getting a nomination and if you really listened to her message you would have learned that she is trying to start a movement to help you “Pay Your Mortgage.”

My question to “Aunt Viv” is “Isn’t it ironic when Will Smith was most definitely helping you pay your mortgage while you were staring on Fresh Prince of Belair, you had any problem with him nor his rise to stardom.rom you or what appears to be absolute disrespect for that brother.”

So stop hating Janet and get off of that “Crab in a barrel mentality! If you were smart you would join the movement so you can in fact continue to “pay your mortgage.”
