Well, August 10, 2012 marked the 254th episode of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne. Many may remember where the show was canceled last season but the network ordered 30 more episodes. According to the dailies August 10th marked the final episode ordered.

Tyler Perry and fans alike should be very proud to know that the 254th episode of House of Payne surpassed The Jeffersons as the longest-running sitcom that’s centered around an African-American cast — by one episode. It was in fact considered a top TV sitcom and one of the best sitcoms to watch on tv.

Tyler recognizing what contributions the Jeffersons made to African American television sitcoms paid tribute to the only two cast members alive on the Jeffersons, Sherman Hemsley and Marla Gibbs, by having them on the House of Payne last year on the Episode titled Curtis Jefferson where Curtis dreams he is a part of the famous sitcom.

When Sherman Helmsley died of lung cancer a few weeks ago, Tyler Perry put this created this tribute to Sherman stating:

He and Marla Gibbs were on the show and they were saying how they were the only two original living cast members from The Jeffersons. Sherman brought joy to millions, and I want to thank him for all the laughter he brought to our house. I celebrate your life, my friend. May you rest in peace.”[/tab][/tabs]
