Greenleaf is the story of a powerful, wealthy family who run a mega-church in Memphis, Tennessee, whose secrets and deceits lurk just beneath the surface.
The show’s theme song is a rerecording of “Satan, We’re Gonna Tear Your Kingdom Down,” a classic by “the first lady of gospel music,” Pastor Shirley Caesar. Here, get an exclusive look at the March 3, 2016, recording session in Durham, North Carolina, that produced the stirring song you hear in the opening credits of Greenleaf.

n just a few weeks, OWN will present Greenleaf, an original scripted drama about a fictional mega-church, Greenleaf World Ministries, in Memphis, Tennessee, and the deceptions, unexpected confessions and surprising family dynamics going on behind closed doors.

Here, several of the key actors, including Lynn Whitfield, Merle Dandridge, Lamman Rucker and Keith David, as well as several executive producers, including Craig Wright, Clement Virgo and Oprah Winfrey (who also has an acting role on the show), express their thoughts about the show’s themes and wider cultural significance.

Tune in for the two-night season premiere on Tuesday, June 21, at 10 p.m. ET/PT and Wednesday, June 22, at 9 p.m. ET/PT and 10 p.m. ET/PT. The remaining episodes will air regularly on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
