Gospel Music is alive in the White House!

First Lady Michelle Obama once again brings Gospel Music to the White House.  Known for being a huge admirer of Gospel music calling it a link to God and a “ray of Hope”

recently as she hosted the History of Gospel Music interactive with students from across the country as part of her “In Performace at the White House” concert series that she

has co-hosted since her husband took office.

Gospel legends, Aretha Franklin, Darlene Love, Lyle Lovett and Rodney Crowell are just  few of the gospel heavy hitters who performed later that same eveing.

according to the Associated Press, with regards to Gospel Music, Ms. Obama remarked   “it’s what helps connect us to God, to that higher power,”

“For so many, when times have darkened, when there’s struggle, gospel music is that ray of hope and it gives you that strength.”

Gospel was the first music she was exposed to, she said, and it made her want to start piano lessons at age 4. “I didn’t keep it up,” she said.
