The internet is buzzing around BET’s decision to cancel its popular Celebration of Gospel show. This past April it was reported that 2 million people tuned in to watch the all star line up including, Tasha Cobbs, Donnie McClurkin, India, ARie, Tamela Mann and Yolanda Adams just to name a few.
The show ran for 14 years and appeared to be going strong with this year being the most popular so the big question was WHY??
Well, there are reports floating around that allegedly BET was having a hard time finding sponsors to foot the bill ( I doubt that). and that BET announced the cancelation at a presentation with its advertisers in New York that “Celebration of Gospel” would not return as one of its “Mega-Specials.” The network is bringing back the “BET Awards,” “Black Girls Rock,” “BET Hip Hop Awards,” and “BET Honors.”
The news last week caused quite a storm on the internet with petitions flying left and right, almost to the point that it became overwelming for BET, in fact Always A-List is reporting that BET is now saying the show was not canceled, however we heard that one before when they denied that they were not canceling TJ holmes talk show.
I pray that the petitions and complaints keep flowing into BET because Celebration of Gospel is a great show and very much needed for the faith based viewership market, Mr. & Mrs. Sponsor we buy merchandise too you know!
