Another day, another story about JAY-Z and Beyoncé being so crazy in love with a Bel-Air mansion, that they are this close to signing the paperwork that would make them permanent L.A. residents.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the rapper and his superstar wife “have agreed in principle to buy a modern mansion in Bel-Air for $90 million, according to real estate sources not authorized to comment publicly on the proposed deal.”
Will it actually close, or will it fall apart like at least two other L.A. homes they reportedly tried to buy?
Word on the street is that while they are a rich, power couple, the Carters don’t have the type of money that would allow them to afford such a lavish estate. Reports that suggest otherwise have been allegedly planted by the couple in order to boost their profile.
It had previously been reported that they made a $120 million offer on a home. Both prices are a significant discount from the property’s earlier, off-market asking price of $135 million.
As LA Curbed reports, “the estate totals 30,000 square feet spread across six structures, all laid out on the 1.56-acre property. A 15-car garage, bulletproof windows, and four pools are among its many high-end amenities.”
Located near Bel Air’s East Gate, “the home last changed hands in 2013 for $15 million. The estate was then built from the ground up by Irish firm McKillen Developments.”
Beyoncé and JAY-Z have maintained a home in LA for years but have yet to buy property. If they close on this deal, it would be the most expensive home in L.A. county this year, “beating out the $85 million sale of David Geffen’s Malibu house to the owner of the Dodgers.”
