About The Church Lady

I work in and around the black church and while it has been both a rewarding and an exhausting journey, working in the black church has also been one of the most difficult things that I have ever had to do in my life and working with so many different types of personalities has made me, on a many a day just want to go postal!

I know many of you are under the perception that working in the church would be heavenly, but honey, let me tell you, it is no joke. After 20 years of dealing with church folks, I decided it was best for me to journal my thoughts instead of knocking somebody out, thus, The Church Lady Blogs was birthed.

It is my goal to not only keep you abreast of what is going on in the African-American/Christian community but also to share ”My Take” on various news articles surrounding hot issues swirling around the blogosphere.  Let me make this perfectly clear,  I am not nor do I profess to be a journalist, but I can give you a REAL DEAL perspective to a lot of things going on in  and around the African-American Christian Community today and will strive to present to you on a daily basis news stories that I find  interesting and sometimes just surreal.

In addition, when you see the Church Lady’s character above on the front page, note that is an article that I posted a “ My Take” on Something.  I am warning you that these particular articles can sometimes get in a heated debate in the comments section, so if you like to debate and  get your point across make sure you read the articles depicting the Church Lady’s Character.

I am sure you are wondering why I chose the name  Church Lady?  Well,  I give props to my Friend Rickey Smiley for creating sister Bernice Jenkins. (see side panel video) for her character allows us to laugh to keep from crying and shaking our heads sometime!.

I have learned over the years that most of us have a sister Bernice Jenkins in our church. Truth be told people aren’t that unique at all, rather, merely personality types. Yes, people come in various colors, sizes and different cultures, yet, all of our great minds can often be categorized in a particular type category. Now, who is the Bernice Jenkins in your Church? I bet you can name her right now (lol).

Now here are a few ground rules you will need to follow in order to avoid being shut down from sending in comments, after all, we are all one in the body of Christ and live by the code of don’t ask don’t tell!

1. Profanity and defamation of anyone’s character will not be tolerated and abuse of this rule will constitute removal of all comments and site privileges. If something is a fact and you can prove it, insert the link to which the information exists. If something is your personal opinion please state such and if it’s just plain old gossip, just insert that famous church gossip line: “Now I am going to tell you what I heard but you aint heard this from me…” in your comment before you give us the scoop.

2. Don’t be going around asking all the employees of your church if they are the church lady, cause chances are they are? (after all, we are all just personality types yall).

3. Don’t be getting all mad if somebody is talking about your church and then go off on a rampage by leaving nasty comments on thechurchlady.blogs. if you don’t like what you read, leave your comment then just don’t visit the site anymore!

4. The best way to reach the Churchlady to promote your cd projects, events or interesting articles is via email at: cl@thechurchladyblogs.com. I will do my best to promote it on the blog.

5.  you can also follow me on twitter @churchladyblogs I promise to follow you back!  and you can join my Facebook fan page too, Chile!

6. Posts are categorized, so make sure you check out all the sections above, then, if you read an article on the blog that you feel would be of interest to others, like it on my Facebook page, it will help a sister to stay relevant out here today! just look in the upper right hand corner of the page and you can like me or follow me.

Be blessed, Chile!

Hi, This is not a comment – I just have a question and a suggestion. What city are you based out of? Also, wanted to suggest a segment for churches looking for a pastor. There are not any websites for the black church listing this information.

    Church Lady,
Since I found this site I have throughly enjoyed being informed of so much of the what’s going on both socially and the current events in the body of Christ. Some of it quite disappointing to hear. You keep up the good work I love to hear your thoughts when you give them to the body because the Word is our guide. The Lord has truly gifted you with a spirit of wisdom and discernment in areas where some of these leaders could use your help.

    I sho nuf luv u
