E. Dewey Smith delivered a powerful message at Bishop T.D. Jakes 2014 International Pastors and Leaders Conference. In his message, “What’s Wrong with a Carpenter?” he warned young Christian Leaders aspiring the ROYALTY and disregarding the carpentry of Jesus ministry. He reminded the audience that Jesus Christ operated in the form of a servant though he was the Son of God!
He challenged the ministy leaders the recognize that Jesus was not just a King-that his birth, his adopted father, his status in society, his death and his burial was definitely not fit for a King, Jesus came here to serve!!!
During his 2014 International Pastors and Leaders Conference message, Pastor Smith apologized for young leaders who tried to “duplicate the royalty” of those who have been in ministry for a long time, and who have not been willing to do the hard work of “carpentry.”
Pastor Smith’s main points were that the following three things would happen to a ministry led by a person who had the trappings of success, but no real anointing from the Holy Spirit:
One of the most striking things Pastor Smith said was, ‘If the Holy Spirit left our churches, 80% of us would operate as usual… The truth is, the Holy Spirit left many of our churches a long time ago.’
