The Church Lady’s Take on Mary Mary Reality Show (video)
The Mary Mary Television show televised on WE TV appears to be a hit with viewers and hot topics on the blogasphere so, I want to provide my take on the new hit show and Last week’s episode that featured a pole that many gymnast use, however, it is most known for being the most used apparatus in the gentlemen clubs (I hate using the term stripper clubs).
Once Mary Mary decided to do a reality (or somewhat) reality show, both, I am sure understood and agreed that secular things were going to have to come into play and may have some impact on their professional careers as gospel artist. However, if we all recall, Mary Mary began years ago getting us ready for their cross over into the secular world. Reality shows are all about worldly drama, so anybody who thinks for one minute that this show is going to be about saving souls is fooling themselves.
This show is about two sisters, mothers and wives trying to juggle their careers, motherhood and marriage. Their roles as gospel/RB/inspirational artists are secondary. They, in my opinion, are successfully branding themselves thru their show as Contemporary Christian Celebrities trying to navigate in a secular world.
And that is what I like about the Mary Mary reality show. It really does give one a perspective on the difficulties of being a Christian living in a secular world. For instance, all Christians know about a stripper pole and let’s be real, some Christians use them. Just another example that Christians are human and fall short in the eyes of God. Though we strive to live a Christian life, in reality, it is often a struggle and yes sometimes we fall, but like Donnie McClurkin says, we get back up again!
