Isaac Newton Farris Named New SCLC President: Keeping it all in the Family
Well, Well, Well, First Bernice tells SCLC to go take a hike, now her cousin Isaac Newton Farris, son of Martin Luther King Jr’s only sister, Christine King Farris, who was pushed out by Martin, III from his CEO position at the King Center last year, tells SCLC, “I’ll take the job as the new SCLC President. Isaac Newton Farris will be replacing the late Rev. Howard Creecy who passed away recently.
This is just too mind boggling for me, now correct me if I am wrong but didn’t SCLC fire one King family member, Martin, a few years back? I guess that old saying is true, “All is Fair in Love and War. Oh, and I forgot another one, “Make Sure You Keep it all in the Family.” I don’t know whether to say congratulations to Isaac or ” Chile what in the world are you thinking?” Either way, I am going to be praying for you Isaac.
For those of you that don’t know a lot about the new-found leader of SCLC here is a snapshot of his published bio:
Isaac Newton Farris Jr., nephew of Dr Martin Luther King Jr., was born in Atlanta, Georgia and attended his uncle’s alma mater, Morehouse College where he majored in Political Science. Mr. Farris’ background has given him a unique prospective and real life experience on some of the most pressing issues of our times. Growing up in one of America’s most socially and politically active families has provided him with a
front row seat, witnessing how policy is formulated and implemented. Mr. Farris has met and dialogued with countless heads of State, CEOs, religious leaders, academic leaders, and grass-roots activists. In 1984, Mr. Farris got his first hands on experience as a political operative when he served as Georgia Field Coordinator for the Walter Mondale Presidential campaign.
